I ♥ to Shop!

Hey my loves, I hope you’ve been staying cool since the past couple of days have been hot and uncomfortable. Well even in this unbearable weather which I’m so over by the way, I managed to get some shopping done. Of course I hit up Forever 21 first and came out with some goodies. I ended up putting back a few items which included this glam peplum skirt with faux leather, a spotted sleeveless blouse with stud accents on the collar, and some jewelry. Which now I fully regret and I should have totally went back for those items before I left and bought them.

This burgundy blouse came with a skinny belt. I bought it in a size up because I wanted it to be a tad looser than my normal size. It was actually the first thing that caught my eye and so I just grabbed it.

I’ve been looking for a basic white V-neck and I got one for only $5.80.

I absolutely love patterned leggings and these red checkered ones were on sale for only $8 and the olive ones were only $6.80.

For accessories I snagged a gold necklace made up of small crosses, cross studs that come with an ear cuff (which I have been dying to try), and owl studs.

I had a look through H&M but left empty handed. I think I will be sticking to buying their stuff online. I also popped into Sephora, which before entering the store I promised my cousin I wasn’t going to buy anything and I even let her hold my wallet. I’m currently running low on my Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue perfume so I wanted to decide what my next perfume would be, I decided on Marchesa because the smell is heavenly. After that we headed a couple stores down to Bath and Body works, my cousin absolutely loves this store. I don’t usually shop in this store but I have always adored there candles. So I was looking around and smelled some really good ones. They had a 3 for $10 mini candle deal going on so I decided I would get my mom a few since she loves candles. When I realized they only had one Frosted Cupcake mini candle left I had to buy it for myself, and with that I ended up buying myself a few as well.

Some Trends Aren't Always Worth Following

Hello loves, today I woke up with the need to write and this post is going to be a little different than most of my other posts. If you follow me on twitter than you know how I tweeted Ann Shoket, Editor in Chief of Seventeen Magazine, about how I was so thankful for them shedding some light on this new craze on thigh gaps. I felt like I needed to speak on the subject because if there are young teens reading my blog than hopefully I can get through to you.

When I received my august issue of Seventeen I was pretty happy because on the cover was Ariana Grande and unlike some I know absolutely nothing on this girl. Then I noticed they put in an article on thigh gaps titled "Is tumblr messing with your mind?" Among this were stories of girls being brainwashed by these photos and basically mistreating their bodies to get this look and it really affected their lives. Now I do have my own personal tumblr page and I had never really noticed how much this affected my thinking until then. I proudly run a Plus sized blog; however I do blog for more than the Plus sized reader. Every time I went on tumblr there would be a new photo of a thigh gap, a girl with tiny legs and a huge gap between them. The sad part about it is these photo's get praised and receive thousands even millions of notes. People believe that this is the definition of 'fit' and it’s not.

It seems as though thigh gaps is the newest trend among teens and this is truly the saddest thing I've ever heard. Can I just shed light in saying that this can qualify as an eating disorder. Girls are destroying themselves in efforts to achieve this when in all reality who cares? Who is really looking at your thighs and saying, "Wow look at her thigh gap that’s amazing?" No one. But these teenage girls are also seeing these runway and high fashion models that are super thin and there also wanting to look like them. Its far more than social media, it begins with the fashion world. I'm not saying that girls with thigh gaps are unhealthy or unattractive because everyone’s body is built differently and hey maybe you are at a healthy weight and that’s just how your body is BUT that doesn’t mean praise this and tear down others for not having one.

To all my lovely readers; whether you are skinny, fat, thin, chubby, whatever your body type, you are BEAUTIFUL. This thigh gap nonsense should not define you. If you are happy with who you are then who are they to judge you. I know that sometimes I wake up with less confidence than I had the previous day but that doesn't mean I love myself less. Please think before you reblog those photo's or decide on "achieving this look". Talk to someone, a doctor, a friend, or a blogger. There are tons of people in the world who will give you the time of day and give you advice.
