A Sweet View on Vintage & Antique Fashion

Vintage Fashion GuildLovers of vintage and antique clothing have the ability to bring new life to old treasures. Lately, I have come to the realization that my collection of vintage and antique piece items seems to be growing. A splendid feeling it is to hold such historical items in my wardrobe. Does this show off the history nerd side of my personality?

Vintage and antique items are more then just trendy, they are also eco-friendly, Now, I'm honestly not that green of a person. I despise waste, especially when great art is involved.

Despite being outdated, vintage pieces can give a look an updated feel. The most ideal scenario would be if the piece matched whatever the hip new trend is. I'm not speaking of my ideal however.. sometimes I dare to be different.

If you would like to view more historical information on vintage and antique garments then I suggest you check out the timeline by the Vintage Fashion Guild - http://vintagefashionguild.org/fashion-timeline

Pretty Cheap Lips

Hey ladies! If you're anything like me, lipstick is one of your loves ... and so is money. Everyone loves Mac and Sephora (I LOVE Sephora), but sometimes who really wants to spend up to 30 bucks on some lipstick or lip gloss, ya know? So I'm just making a quick post on buying some great lipsticks, while saving your cash. Lipstick is one of the things that can make your outfit pop (in a good or bad way). You've got to find the right tones and colors that compliment your skin tone and flatter your face as well as the outfit that you're rocking. Now here's the best part. You can find some awesome lipsticks at your local drugstore. I'm talking about Duane Reade, Walgreens, CVS, Rite-Aid etc. You name it, it's there. They have brands like L'Oreal, Covergirl and others for about 6 to 15 dollars; but if you REALLY want to save your dollars, head right over to NYC Company. They have a great variety- nudes, to pinks, reds and purples. Not only that but, their brand is cheap, very effective and long-lasting. Did I mention cheap? I mean, from 99 cents to $3.00. For lipstick! You can't go wrong.
Above are just a few of the ones that I have. To the far left is Chiffon (It comes out like a light pink, almost nude and it's great for people with a fair skin tone, kind of like me). The middle is Air Kiss ( It comes out like a cotton candy pink and I find that it looks awesome on darker skinned as well as people with lighter skin). Last but not least the one to the far right is called Retro Red ( It comes out like .. you guessed it RED lol, but it's a deep red and I actually find that this one compliments darker skinned people beautifully)! So there you have it. Great lipsticks for cheap. Hope I made shopping a little easier. Lol.
Laters babies (:

Lana Del Rey: The New Face of H&M

Lana Del Rey has been revealed as the new face of H&M's autumn/winter 2012 campaign. Wearing a pale pink angora sweater, peach pants, chandelier earrings, and her classic hair bump, Lana never leaves us disappointed. H&M's creative director Donald Schneider said, "The mood is very LA Noir." Not only is she the face of H&M's campaign, she also had a mulberry bag named after her and was on the cover of the March issue of British Vogue. Lana once said she was like a "gangster Nancy Sinatra." Her look is modernized vintage, many things inspiried by the fictional character Lolita, or previous first lady Jackie Kennedy. In the winter, she will appear in many other ads, and September 19, she will be in a commercial singing "Blue Velvet." Rumors say she might be releasing a new album in November, and let's hope the rumors are true! xoxo, Maria Muscatello

Street Style's Takeover Around The Globe

street fashionStreet style is trending around the globe. Recently, news broke about mini Topshops opening in select Nordstrom department stores across the United States. Places such as the British retailer Topshop have become famous for presenting a new type of fashion forward with reasonably priced items dedicated to showcasing street style.

Growing up, I was an avid reader street style/street fashion related magazines such as FRUiTS Mag. Japanese street fashion was all the rage in my eyes. A deep love and understanding of such bold expressions made me seem like an oddball to society. My mind never could have wrapped itself around the fact that said oddball passions would become an explosive trend. Now? I'm seemingly a novice as street fashion (or as you could say street style) has been reborn.
